It was a looooong last 36 hours & I'm on little sleep here... so hoping to catching some shut eye soon.
The flight was uneventful except for a small delay. There was no sleep to be had, but it passed as quick as 13.5 hours on a flight can. :) The only problem was the bathrooms were a mess by the end of it.
And a bit of funny- so squatty potties are part of China (although, I've yet to encounter one). I went into the airplane bathroom after this little old lady. The toilet cover was up and on the toilet seat were to very distinct footprints (from dirt/wet bathroom floor)- right in the position one would use to...well.. squat. So did someone (that lady?) really just squat in an airplane toilet? Unsure....
We landed fine- we managed customs.... we managed getting our bags & exchanging some money. And we found our guide - William who is very nice. He's around our age- speaks English very well & is very knowledgable. He loaded us into our car with our driver Liam....
Boy oh boy...
The driving....
I mean you thought Kurt was bad?!? Traffic? Eh we'll create our own lanes. Oncoming cars, peoples, buses- eh..whatever. They better move. The horn- constantly (and I mean CONSTANTLY) beeping. Over anything. I think the driver was having a whole conversation in horn.
Our hotel is nice enough. It will be cozy for the time we are spending in it- but it's westernized & just fine... plus, it includes breakfast! :)
Our view- Tennis anyone?
The nice goodies the hotel left for us. Well, yes...that IS a Chinese condom. What kind of hotel is this? :)
Kurt and I ventured out by ourselves to the Chinese grocery store to find water to drink & brush our teeth. I don't have any pictures- it was hectic, the store was gigantic & packed...and we were in survival mode!
THankfully we found these, in addition to our water, for tomorrow morning. Need our fixes!
So our time to meet Charlie got pushed back tomorrow till 1pm due to the orphanage having a conference or something. Which is ok. It gives us time to recoup a little- maybe venture back to the grocery store, pack our bags...and all that.
But tomorrow- at 1pm- our little girl is ours. (I can't believe the time is almost here)
Over and out- from China-
One tired gal!

I LOVE you are calling her Charlie!!!! How sweet is that!?? We spent 10 days in Beijing last June adopting Ben from BCWI #1...enjoy your stay. Lots to see and do with precious Charlie!!! :) Hoping you are able to get some rest!
